App Permissions

WebMail requests the following privacy-relevant permissions to function properly:

Contact Access

  • Read/Modify Contacts: Used to suggest recipients and autocomplete email addresses while composing messages. Contact data remains on the device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Storage Access

  • Read/Write Storage: Used to save email attachments, import/export app settings, and select files to attach to emails.

Network & System Permissions

  • Full Internet Access: Connects to email servers (IMAP/SMTP, Gmail API)
  • Control Vibration: Notification alerts
  • Prevent Device Sleep: Completes email synchronization without interruption
  • Auto-Start on Boot: Checks for new emails after device restart
  • View Network State: Determines connection availability
  • Read Sync Settings: Manages contact and email synchronization

Data Collection and Use

Personal Data We Access

Webmail App may access the following data strictly to provide email functionality:

  • Email addresses
  • Contact names and email addresses stored on your device

Email Content

  • Webmail App does not store Gmail or email message content on its servers
  • Emails are accessed directly from your email provider using IMAP/SMTP or Gmail API
  • Messages are stored locally on the user's device only

Usage Data

The app may collect limited diagnostic and usage information such as:

  • Device type and operating system
  • IP address (used transiently for network communication)
  • App usage and crash logs (if enabled)

Usage data is used solely for performance monitoring and bug fixing.

Third-Party Services

Google API Services

Webmail App's use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google data is accessed only to:

  • Display emails
  • Send emails on user request
  • Modify mailbox state (archive, label, delete)

Google user data is never used for advertising, profiling, or resale.

AI Services (Optional Feature)

If the optional AI Assist feature is enabled:

  • Email content is processed locally on the device
  • Data is not used for AI model training
  • The feature operates in accordance with Microsoft Privacy policies where applicable

Other Third-Party Services

The app may use:

  • Google Play Services
  • Firebase (Crash reporting and analytics)
  • AdMob (where applicable)

No email content is shared with these services.

Data Retention and Deletion

Email Data

  • Webmail App does not retain or store email message content on any server
  • All email messages remain on the user's email provider and/or the local device

OAuth Tokens

  • OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are stored securely on the user's device using encrypted storage (flutter_secure_storage)
  • Tokens persist across app sessions to allow continued access

Tokens are deleted when:

  • The user signs out of the app
  • The user revokes access via Google Account → Security → Third-party apps
  • The app is uninstalled from the device

Upon deletion or revocation:

  • All locally stored tokens are removed immediately
  • No further access to Google or email data is possible
  • No backups of tokens or Google user data are retained

Data Security & Privacy

Data Protection

Sensitive information is used only to provide core email functionality. Webmail App does not automatically transmit email content to developers or third parties.

Security Measures

We use industry-standard security practices, including encryption and secure storage. However, no electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Cookies

Webmail App does not directly use cookies. Third-party libraries may use cookies or similar technologies as part of their standard operation.

Children's Privacy

Webmail App does not target users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If such data is discovered, it is deleted immediately.

The app may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.
